Students at Trenton Middle School will have the chance to participate in the 2019-20 National Geographic Bee when preliminary and final rounds are hosted by the school on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
The National Geography Bee is an annual geography competition organized by the National Geography Society. The contest is designed to encourage geography in schools, to spark student interest in the subject and to increase public awareness about geography.
Fifth through eighth grade will compete in grade level preliminary rounds, with the top two contestants at each grade level and the next two at-large contestants moving on to the final round of local competition. The preliminary rounds will take place in the TMS Library/Media Center and parents are invited to attend.
The schedule includes 8:30 a.m., seventh grade; 9:25 a.m., eighth grade; 10:20 a.m., sixth grade; and 11:15 a.m., fifth grade. The final round will be held at 2:20.
