AMI-Alternative Methods of Instruction
The Trenton R-IX School District has received approval from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to use “Alternative Methods of Instruction” (AMI) on days where we must cancel school due to inclement weather. As of January 17, 2024 the Trenton R-IX School District has 19 hours of “inclement weather time” remaining in the schedule. We may be required to initiate an AMI Day instead of a traditional “snow day” should we continue to use those hours for inclement weather. We will clearly state if an AMI Day is being used.
.
How Will AMI Days Work?
- The district will inform parents and students when an AMI day has been scheduled (phone call, text, social media, local news channels).
- For students at Rissler Elementary, AMI packets will be distributed to students prior to using an AMI day. Students will be responsible for completing their packet and returning it to their teacher, once school has resumed.
- For students at TMS/THS, online resources will be provided by teachers through the Google Classroom. Students who do not have an internet connection will receive a packet.
- Instructions and information will be provided by teachers, and students are expected to complete and submit learning activities. If parents have questions about learning activities, they will contact their child's teacher through email.
Important Points To Remember For AMI Days At Trenton R-IX
- Students will NOT attend school on an AMI day. All students will have instructional activities to be completed at home on AMI days.
- AMI days count as instructional days and do not have to be made up at the end of the school year if students and staff complete assigned work.
- Students who do not complete and submit AMI assignments, will be marked absent for the related AMI day.
- The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has allowed 36 AMI hours for the 23-24 school year.
